Work Rights While You Study
Australia lets students work, and many do, but the limits are strict.
Hours are counted per fortnight, not per week. The standing cap has been 48 hours per fortnight during study, with full-time work allowed during official course breaks. Life After Graduation
Know your post-study goal before you choose a course, because the 485 options open to you depend on your qualification.
- The Temporary Graduate visa (Subclass 485). Its post-higher-education stream lets you work in any role for a period set by your qualification: historically two years for bachelor and coursework master graduates and three for research degrees.
